A fan translation of Koto Battle: Tengai no Moribito (コトバトル, Game Boy Color, 2001), a role-playing game built around Kotodama, "word-spirits" that the player collects, equips and combines. The collection screen tracks how many have been found (for example 12 of 60) and shows them by element: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Snow and Electric. Equipped Kotodama are used to summon monsters, which fight wild monsters in battle. The opening has Tachibana teach the basics, Kanae teach the equip menu, and an exam battle follow. Progress is saved through the Book of Truth screen.
The whole game is translated: the title screen, name entry, dialogue and cutscenes, the field menu with its status, Kotodama collection and equip screens, battle menus and messages, the save screen, item and Kotodama names, and the painted icons and name plates. Free and non-commercial. The patch contains no game data: it is applied to a copy of the Japanese cartridge.

- The patch requires an unmodified Japanese ROM matching the checksums above.
- The
.bpsis applied with Flips, RomPatcher.js or beat. A BPS patcher checks the source, so a refusal means a different dump. - The patched ROM runs in accurate emulators (Mesen, SameBoy, BGB) and on flash carts. It is a Game Boy Color game and does not run on the original Game Boy.
- Ten long names were shortened to fit their boxes: for example "Life-Reaping Claw" appears as "Reaping Claw", "Depth Charge Array" as "Depth Charges", "Still Water, Clear Mirror" as "Still Mirror" and "Kotonoha Village" as "Kotonoha". Restoring the full names needs several screens to be re-laid out and is planned.
- In the big card view the element row can show garbled tiles while the Guard label is on screen.
- The boss attack names were not observed on screen during testing. They are translated.
- Two text boxes have unbalanced line lengths, and the corner brackets 『』 around Kotodama names are kept from the original.
- Not played start to finish.
Bug reports are most useful with the patch version, a screenshot, the location in the game and a savestate where possible.
