Weltorv EstleiaENGLISH TRANSLATION PATCH

Weltorv Estleia
Hudson Soft, 1999
v1.0.0-betaPlayStation2026-10-21

1.0.0-beta has been withdrawn while fixes from play-testing are finished. 1.0.1-beta will be posted here shortly.

A fan translation of Weltorv Estleia, a PlayStation role-playing game released only in Japan. You create your own adventurer, arrive at the walls of Farbell in the land of Estleia, and make your own way: join a guild, take on work, train, and follow the Scenario Keys into the story of the gods Shuraldine and Lokifern. It is free and non-commercial. The patch contains no game data: you apply it to your own copy of the Japanese disc. This is a beta; see Known issues below.

01Changes

1.0.0-beta: what is translated

  • All the game's text: the story and the many state-dependent variants of each townsperson's lines, the menus, items, abilities, spells, the guilds, the calendar, character creation and the save screens.
  • The dialogue is set in Alegreya, chosen to suit the game's illuminated-manuscript look.
  • The painted lettering is redrawn in English: the controller guide, the opening myth, the creation and name-entry buttons, the menus.
  • The two demo movies are re-encoded with English menus.

05How to apply
  1. Start from the Redump dump of the Japanese disc: Weltorv Estleia (Japan).cue and its six BIN tracks, matching the checksums above.
  2. Apply the .bps to Weltorv Estleia (Japan) (Track 1).bin with Flips, RomPatcher.js (in a browser) or beat. Leave tracks 2–6 as they are. BPS checks the source checksum, so a patcher that rejects the file means the dump differs.
  3. Give the patched file the same name as the original track 1, beside the cue sheet, and load the cue sheet in the emulator. Do not convert the patched disc to another format before checking that it boots.

Tested on. Beetle PSX (Mednafen) with the real Japanese SCPH-5500 BIOS, played by an automated walk of 43 captures from power-on through the opening myth, character creation and name entry, the guards at Farbell, the field menu and saving. It has not been tried on other emulators or on real hardware.

06Known issues
  • The staff credits are kept in Japanese for now, and so are the memory card save titles: the game matches those titles when loading, so translating them would stop saves made with the Japanese disc from loading.
  • The name-entry keyboard keeps its kana pages beside the new A–Z page, so names can still be typed in Japanese.
  • Some spell names stored by the game in full-width letters may appear in wide lettering in places that were not reached during testing.
  • Nothing after the opening hours has been played through by a tester.

Please write to phil@tttships.co with the version (1.0.0-beta), a screenshot, where you were in the game, and a memory card save or save state if you can.
